I was looking for a unique Christmas gift for my wife, though we rarely buy each other presents. The idea of something natural, made by artisans and contributing to an economically challenged region appealed to me. I had seen a variety of TAHDA’s woven creations, loved their story, and decide a woven natural scarf was something special. When it arrived, it was truly gorgeous. The length, weight, beautiful neutral color, and amazingly cozy softness made a perfect gift for cold winter days.

I initially purchased an alpaca throw blanket (the Ndong alpaca throw) because the mission of Tahda textiles resonated with our family. I wanted an authentic product from native Tibetan artisans and wanted to support their livelihood. When the throw arrived, I also discovered that it was a great blanket. It not only looked good as a throw on our bed, but when I used it for sleeping, I slept better, kind of like using a weighted blanket. It was soft, warm, and comfortably heavy. I liked it so much that I purchased another throw, the Tsampa alpaca throw blanket. The neutral colors of the Tsampa throw look great in our living room; this throw keeps me warm on cooler mornings as I read on the couch. I’d highly recommend these beautifully handcrafted products.

We absolutely LOVE our TAHDA scarves, pillows and blanket and find them to be high-quality products that we look forward to passing down to our children to use for years to come. The textiles market is flooded with lower-quality, common-use products, but we are willing to pay more for high-quality, hypoallergenic, hand-spun products and TAHDA provided exactly what we were looking for. In addition to these being heirloom products, it means even more to us to be able to read the stories of the ladies who actually made these products, giving us a deeper connection to the region. We’ve even met some of these ladies and see the joy and pride in their work. For this reason, we’ve bought more of TAHDA’s products to gift to our friends who cannot visit the region, providing a point of connection for them while also providing them high-quality blankets, scarves and pillows for their families. Thanks TAHDA!
